Lovelies - Let me begin by asking you a question: Which part of the bible, which scriptures, and which mandates are left open for interpretation?
I will answer this, but first let me tell you a little story: The most frequently asked question that CYU Ministries receives is, "What do you mean when you say that 'Religion Kills?' "
Back in 1998 when CYU was being newly formed in our spirit, we were so excited. I remember asking The Lord to take our music OUTSIDE the church walls and into the places where the backslidden were: We knew that those whom we had a heart to minister to would not be sitting in the church pews. Little did we know what God's intentions were, which was a good thing, because no one knowing each step that they would have to take, or each trial that would present itself, would ever choose such a path to walk.
As member's of a charismatic church, we began developing as worshippers and were allowed to present our unique style of music on our church platform. It was there that The Lord began establishing CYU as a Prophetic Music Ministry: Many things would happen such as freezes in the Spirit, weeping, and true repentance. This ruffled the feathers of some, and not long after, we were called into the Pastor's office where we were told that the congregation loved us, but in order for us to be allowed on 'their' platform, we would have to assure them that we would not prophesy or operate in the prophetic in any way. We were also told that we were not to discuss this meeting, and as an added barb, the pastor told me specifically that I was too skinny and looked anorexic (???).
Well needless to say, we were shocked! If they only knew how I would ask The Lord not to use us that way because I could feel the tension and aggression of those who were offended, they would have not been so presumptuous.
Now lovelies I will tell you something else that you should understand: A true Prophet does not know when God will speak or what He will say. A righteous messenger never arrives with any agenda or prefabricated words. Man will not control The Spirit of God, only quench Him.
2 Peter 1:21"For prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit."
God works through men, men do not work through God! If you are a leader in your church trying to control what God wills to do, there will be a heavy price to pay!
Today, not only has this church of renown dissolved, but also every person who was in leadership has experienced devastation in the form of divorce and/or death. What a price to pay for kingdom building! Luke 11:17, "But He, knowing their thoughts, said to them: “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and a house divided against a house falls."
Not long after this meeting, The Lord released us to go to Nashville, where we had new opportunities waiting. Our first CD titled "Compared to who?" was released and written as a direct reference to this attack from our church home and the leaders that we considered our spiritual shepherds. CYU is growing and progressing as The Lord wills, and since the conception of CYU Ministries, we have been a bitter pill to swallow for some, and to others, a moment of refreshing. Jesus goes after the one, and Jesus is calling for BOLD WARRIORS to take a stand for His Truth, no matter the cost. CYU has proclaimed that religion kills the spirit, and it does! Religion called us in the office that day - Religion told us that we could not speak The Words of The Spirit - And Religion tried to kill our soul - BUT Jesus came to set us free!
A FINAL NOTE: Had we let this episode detour our calling, many to come, would never find the courage to step out. We are here to be an example that God Himself Controls the master plan and NO man will put asunder what God raises up out of the ashes. CYU is an acronym for Celebrate Your Uniqueness in Christ: If you do this, your path will be made straight and you will arrive right on time!
